Many corporate video projects reply on stock footage way too much. Stock footage is the antithesis of Guerrilla-DIY-filmmaking: instead of creating what you want, you just buy something, sorta like what you want.

This music video is made out of stock footage, with Darwin Deez cleverly added in to each clip. The result is one of the most inventive music videos of the year. It helps that the song is good, but the use of so much stock footage, and the juxtaposition of Darwin, says something greater about our society’s dreams and aspirations, and the impossibly perfect advertising imagery we try to live up to.

Irony in corporate filmmaking is hard to judge and pull off, but this brilliant music video has set the gears turning in my head.
