Grace Helbig is figuring it out<\/a> &#8211; a Washington Post article on the transition YouTube star, Grace Helbig, is trying to make from YouTube star, to something else. What&#8217;s interesting t0 us is how she built a brand out of just her personality, hard work and persistence. There&#8217;s a lesson there for YouTube marketeers, if you&#8217;re willing to take it.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/filmmakermagazine.com\/82902-sean-bobbitt-on-handheld-cinematography\/#.UuakaRDTmUl\" target=\"_blank\">12 Years a Slave D.P. Sean Bobbitt on Handheld Cinematography | Filmmaker Magazine<\/a>\u00a0&#8211; there&#8217;s more than an hour and a half of video here but it is worth sitting through.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.smartpassiveincome.com\/spi-095-the-dos-and-donts-of-online-video-with-caleb-wojcik\/\" target=\"_blank\">Smart Passive Income:\u00a0The DOs and DON\u2019Ts of Online Video with Caleb Wojci<\/a>k &#8211; there&#8217;s a lot of fluff and self-promotion here, but this episode is still worth your time on one of your commutes this week.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=ONIQRmzYOZg\" target=\"_blank\">Techniques and Tools for Creative Storytelling with HDSLRs<\/a> &#8211; another free, video tutorial, this time from B&amp;H. Another long one. Another one worth your time.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/nofilmschool.com\/2014\/01\/how-to-remove-unwanted-logo-from-clothing-adobe-after-effects\/\" target=\"_blank\">How to Remove an Unwanted Logo from Clothing in Adobe After Effects<\/a> &#8211; if you create videos for any length of time, at some point you&#8217;ll be asked to do this.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/nofilmschool.com\/2014\/01\/joyce-tsang-stillmotion-choosing-best-camera-to-tell-story\/\" target=\"_blank\">Choosing the Best Camera to Tell Your Story<\/a> &#8211; &#8220;<em>Just because a story calls for you to use a 5D Mark III this week, when you had a fully kitted-up EPIC last week,\u00a0doesn&#8217;t\u00a0mean one story is going to be better than another.<\/em>&#8220;<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.reelseo.com\/prankvertising\/\" target=\"_blank\">2014: The Year Prankvertising Jumps the Shark?<\/a> &#8211; putting aside that I hate this newly invented, amalgam word, and that, how new is a concept Candid Camera was rocking back in the 70&#8217;s, it is still a trend you should be aware of.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.newsshooter.com\/2014\/01\/23\/china-heavyweight-how-a-successful-feature-documentary-was-shot-on-canon-5d-mkii\/\" target=\"_blank\">News Shooter | China Heavyweight \u2013 how a successful feature documentary was shot on Canon 5D mkII<\/a> &#8211; with all the talk of the<a href=\"http:\/\/www.indiewire.com\/article\/from-arri-alexa-to-sony-hvr-what-the-2013-sundance-filmmakers-shot-on\" target=\"_blank\"> ARRI dominating Sundance submissions<\/a>, it&#8217;s nice to see a film using more modest equipment and still looking great.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sousproductions.com\/hints-and-tips\/create-your-video-plan-for-2014\/\" target=\"_blank\">Create Your Video Plan for 2014<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.indiewire.com\/article\/will-2014-be-the-year-that-smartphone-filmmaking-goes-mainstream\" target=\"_blank\">Will 2014 Be the Year That Smartphone Filmmaking Goes Mainstream?<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=szVDXrWpWSY\" target=\"_blank\">Are Practical FX making a come-back in Movies?<\/a>\u00a0&#8211; I hope so.
